Do you want your small business website to be a success?
This book can help you.
I've been a professional website designer since 1996. By working with hundreds of small business owners and managers (my clients) over 20+ years, I've employed all the latest and greatest techniques, whiz-bangs, tips, and tricks. I've seen and heard all the false promises, and put most of them to the ultimate test...
What brings money in the door?
That's my goal. Plain and simple. Few other things matter.
If you're thinking of designing your own website, I urge you to read this book. I won't fill your head with lies and misleading information. I'll tell you the truth about which features really matter, and which ones don't. Yes, it's true, I think you should be working with an independent designer if at all possible. But either way, you'll come to understand the basics that professional designers rely on day-to-day with their small business clients.
Am I speaking for all designers?
No, of course not. Every day there is a fresh crop of "savvy" designers ready to give you the latest and greatest, but unfortunately many lack the long-toothed experience of professionals who, like myself, have been in this industry for 20 years. We pros have been there, done that, time and again. We know what works, what doesn't, and what might. And we tell it to you straight. Experience counts.
Let me paint a picture...A slick salesperson calls you up and says your website looks dated and is not showing up on ALL the search engines, etc. It needs revamped to appear more modern using the latest and greatest gizmos, and so on. Slick might even show you a bogus report to prove you're failing online because your website is not listed on HotFrogSearch.wiz, among others.
By reading this book, you'll get the truth. Your website is one of the most important aspects of your business. But don't take a salesperson's advice. Get the facts from an actual website designer. Do you think a sales pitch is meant to do anything except separate you from your cash? The truth is you'll need a solid website built on fundamentals, so you'd better learn what those fundamentals are.
As a small business owner myself, I'm focused on surviving and thriving, not going bankrupt. I pay attention to what works online, and I talk to my clients about what is working for them and what is not. I've done this so long, most of the fundamentals are ingrained into my brain. From there, I pass along my findings to my clients, so all of us can be as successful as possible. Most who follow my advice are still in business today, because success boils down to hard work offline, too, and my philosophy of website design for small business never forgets that fact. By sticking with the essentials, you'll avoid putting the cart before the horse.
Do you want a website that's fancy, flashy, or really pops?
If yes, I'll explain why none of that really matters in the long run. Sure, I've helped clients create flashy websites, and they had fun and felt pride for a while. But the sizzle had no steak, and they ultimately wasted their time and money.
What is missing in this detailed book description?
Fake reviews and testimonials! Why? Because that type of fluff isn't true. I want readers to know, in advance, what this book is honestly about. This is not a "how-to" book. This is not a "motivational" book.
This concise book covers what I consider the essential features and pages of a successful small business website. My writing style is blunt, which I hope you'll accept. I've written this book for serious small business owners and managers, who value their time and money, and who want the basics of what I've learned as a professional over 20 years in this business. I've served over 1,000 clients and have made great money doing what works, learning from my mistakes, and implementing wise decisions.
